First Stage of Run-off Parliamentary Elections Concludes


The second day of run-off parliamentary elections occurred amid calls from some members of the Freedom and Justice Party to empower the parliament with more governmental authority. Polling took place in Cairo, Alexandria, Asyut, Luxor, Port Said, Kafr el-Sheikh, Damietta, Fayoum and the Red Sea Governorates.

A total of 150 seats were determined during the elections that occurred on November 28 and 29. In this round 73 seats went to the Freedom and Justice Party, 30 went to the Nour Party, 15 to the Egyptian Bloc, and 11 to the Wafd Party.
