Supreme Administrative Court Overturns SCAF’s Arrest Powers

The Supreme Administrative Court nullified a constitutional decree of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) today. The court issued four rulings, including one which maintained that SCAF does not possess the authority to hold civilians. The other cases were postponed.

SCAF’s power to arrest civilians originally stemmed from a decades-old emergency law which was allowed to lapse in May.
