Maximum Wage Law


Description Legal Context
This law establishes a limit on maximum wage in the public sector, capping it at LE 42,000 monthly. The law applies to those working in the government, municipalities, national authorities, state-owned services, and economic institutions. This law came to implement Article 27 of the Constitution which sets forth a minimum and maximum wage; further Article 7 of the International Covenant for Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights mandates that states ensure that citizens are provided with fair wages in the workplace.
