About TIMEP’s Internship Program
TIMEP’s Internship Program trains the next generation of policy influencers and policymakers by providing students and early-career professionals with:
- Direct mentorship from TIMEP staff.
- Hands-on experience contributing to active policy initiatives.
- Exposure to TIMEP’s strategic programming and operations.
At the outset of the internship, each intern works with a staff mentor to establish clear professional goals. By the conclusion of the program, interns will have:
- Strengthened relevant legal and policy skills.
- Engaged with practitioners and partner organizations in the field.
- Developed a deeper understanding of the role of civil society in the MENA policy space.
Summer 2026 Legal Internship
TIMEP seeks candidates for its Summer 2026 Legal Internship who can commit to full-time (35–40 hours per week) work for 12 weeks. The program begins in the second half of May. Start dates must align with the program’s established summer schedule.
The Legal Intern will:
- Monitor and analyze developments relevant to TIMEP’s mandate, particularly in legal, judicial, and accountability spaces.
- Conduct substantive legal research in support of the Legal Unit’s initiatives.
- Contribute to drafting legal submissions in coordination with partner organizations, including a UPR submission.
Stipend
Full-time interns (35–40 hours per week) receive a stipend of $1,000 per month, prorated for partial months. Stipends are provided in accordance with university requirements.
Qualifications
Candidates must be pursuing or have recently completed a Master’s in Legal Studies, LLM, JD, or foreign equivalent.
Competitive candidates will demonstrate:
- Knowledge of legal, judicial, or human rights issues in the MENA region.
- Good familiarity with international law and accountability mechanisms.
- Understanding of U.S., EU, or UN policy frameworks.
- Proficiency in English and Arabic languages.
Internship candidates present in Washington, DC may have the opportunity to work in a hybrid format, which allows for both in-person and remote work. Internship candidates outside of Washington, DC will be able to complete the internship in an entirely remote setting. Regardless of location, the candidate’s schedule must overlap significantly with 9 AM to 5 PM GMT.
