Ghinwa Hayek


Ghinwa Hayek is a former Nonresident Fellow at the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP); at TIMEP, her mandate focused on COVID-19, public health, and access to data and information in MENA. She works mainly in the fields of maternal and newborn health, mental health, and now on COVID-19 in the academic and humanitarian sector in Lebanon and the Middle East. Her research interests and work are on the methodological and quantitative aspects, from study design, analysis of surveillance and big data and non-traditional epidemiological sources, and integration of machine learning techniques with traditional biostatistical analysis. She recently joined an international humanitarian organization as an Evaluation, Analysis and Learning Coordinator, working with their shelter and legal assistance programs for refugees and other vulnerable populations in Lebanon. She holds a master degree in Public Health, with a concentration in epidemiology and biostatistics from the American University of Beirut (AUB). Ghinwa is currently the president of the Gamma Delta Chapter at the Faculty of Health Sciences at AUB—the only chapter in the Middle East and North Africa, part of the Delta Omega Honorary Society in Public Health.
