Hussein Baoumi is a researcher, currently working for Amnesty International as an Egypt and Libya researcher. Prior to joining Amnesty International, Hussein was Bassem Sabry Fellow with Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy in Washington D.C, an international fellow with Dejusticia in Bogota, and Programs Director at the Egyptian Commission for Rights and Freedoms in Cairo. He specializes in conducting research and advocacy on human rights, civil society, democracy, migration and conflict issues with a focus on Egypt and Libya.
