On February 18, 2014, founder of the Nasserist Dignity Party (Al-Karama) and official presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahy released a 166-page document covering nine topics that detail Sabahy’s political thoughts, concerns, and potential solutions to a wide range of issues including national security and government corruption in Egypt. Sabahy’s political platform had three pillars: freedom, progress, and development, all three of which aimed to promote social justice and dignity politically, economically, and socially. Sabahy’s political goals included raising taxes on the rich in Egypt and promoting projects that would provide housing for the homeless. He also noted that it was vital that the state make independent political decisions and not to surrender to political pressure from other countries such as the U.S.
