On World Humanitarian Day, the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) is pleased to announce the formation of an advocacy partnership with the Karam Foundation, a leading nonprofit organization specializing in smart aid, sustainable development, and innovative education for Syrians in Syria, Turkey, Lebanon, and Jordan.
TIMEP’s collaboration with Karam aligns with its goal to magnify local voices across the Middle East and North Africa as it will apply its advocacy expertise in support of Karam’s mission and initiatives. In the coming months, TIMEP will work with Karam to expand and inform actionable U.S. and E.U. policy on the Syrian crisis, with a special emphasis on the plight of Syrian refugees. TIMEP’s work on Syria aims to address the root causes of violent extremism, while recognizing that those affected by the conflict must have an alternative for a peaceful future.
TIMEP is proud to partner with the Karam Foundation, which since 2007 has worked with thousands of Syrians to provide community-driven aid and support to displaced refugees across the region. Karam’s current programs are both short- and long-term in nature and work with displaced Syrian refugees to provide lasting development and educational opportunities. TIMEP invites you to learn more about Karam’s programming—including their latest campaign, “Children of Syria,” launched in response to the video of five-year-old Omran Daqneesh—here.
As TIMEP continues to expand its work into Syria, collaborations such as the partnership with Karam will be invaluable to bringing local perspectives and nuance to policymakers’ discussions on the Middle East and North Africa.
The Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy (TIMEP) is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness of democratic transitions in the Middle East through analysis, advocacy, and action.
