Second Stage of Parliamentary Elections Continues amid Claims of Fraud

The second day of parliamentary elections occurred in nine mostly rural governorates throughout Egypt (Giza, Ismailia, Suez, Beni Suef, Aswan, Sharqia, Beheira, Monofeya and Sohag.) Turnout increased as the day went on, again prompting officials to extend voting hours as they had the evening prior.

Claims of electoral fraud came from multiple sources, prompting judges to be present at polling locations. Despite controversy surrounding assisted voting in Beheira and other locations, the judiciary asserted the legal authority to assist those who needed help with the act of voting.
