The run-off for the third round of the parliamentary elections began today in the Qalyubia, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Minya, Qena, North Sinai, South Sinai, New Valley, and Matruh Governorates. The former U.S. president Jimmy Carter stated that his organization, the Carter Center, was very pleased with the legitimacy of the election despite some misgivings about campaign violations.

One problem occurred in the Asyut village of Beni Idris where many residents refused to cast ballots on Tuesday in protest of local bread and butane gas shortages.
