Muhammed Morsi Announced President of Egypt

Today, a week after the last vote was cast for the president of Egypt, results were announced. Muhammed Morsi of the Freedom and Justice Party won over Ahmed Shafiq. Muslim Brotherhood supporters who have been in Tahrir Square for six days celebrated the announcement.

According to the Carter Center, which had a limited role in monitoring both rounds of the election, reported that Morsi received 13,230,131 votes, or 51.73{9c8763a24342de9df9e4c7e4fa5a5078b0ded20b85a8f2a569dce5b3f3924212} of all the votes cast.
