A three-stage election calendar for the People’s Assembly elections was announced today. Elections will be held on: November 28 for Cairo, Fayoum, Port Said, Damietta, Alexandria, Kafr el-Sheikh, Asyut, Luxor and the Red Sea; December 14 for Giza, Beni Suef, Monofeya, Sharqia, Ismailia, Suez, Beheira, Sohag and Aswan; and January 3, 2012 for Minya, Qalyubia, Gharbia , Dakahlia, North Sinai, South Sinai, Matruh, Qena and New Valley.
The Supreme Council of the Armed Forces also announced that the Shura Council elections will be held on January 29, 2012. The People’s Assembly is to begin work on March 16, 2012, and the Shura Council is to begin on March 24, 2012.
