Final Day of Parliamentary Elections in Egypt


Today marked the last day of parliamentary voting in Egypt; voting was completed in the Qalyubia, Gharbia, Dakahlia, Minya, Qena, North Sinai, South Sinai, New Valley, and Matruh Governorates. While the Carter Center declared the elections free and fair, not all observers agreed.

A total of 105 seats were determined during the third round, of which 41 went to the Freedom and Justice Party (FJP), 30 went to the Nour Party, and 13 to the Wafd Party.

The results of the full elections were as follows: FJP won 235 seats, the Nour Party won 121 seats, the Wafd Party won 38 seats, the Egyptian Bloc won 35 seats, the Reform and Development Party won 10 seats, and the Wasat Party won 10 seats. Other minor parties and independents completed the remaining 47 seats.
