Morsi Swears-in Cabinet

The newly elected president, Muhammad Morsi, assembled his Cabinet and swore them in today. The cabinet is headed by Prime Minister Hisham Qandil and retains the Mubarak-era defense minister Mohamed Hussein Tantawi.

The Cabinet included interim government holdovers Finance Minister Mumtaz al-Saeed, Foreign Minister Kamel Amr, Major General Ahmed Gamal Eldin, and former Prime Minister Kamal al-Ganzouri. Of the 35 members, two are women—one of whom is Christian.
