“Committee of Fifty” Members Announced


Today the interim government revealed the names of those who will constitute the 50-member committee to take the suggestions of the ten-member committee to amend the Egyptian constitution. Containing few Islamists, the group has been given 60 days to complete the task.

The 50-member committee is expected to remove parliamentary quotas for women, workers, and farmers, as well as to remove the Shura Council from the new document.

Government spokesman Ihab Badawi made the announcement of names.
