Anti-government Groups in Cairo Stage March against Protest Law

On Thursday, April 10, a march took place in central Cairo against a law that bans public demonstrations. The march was organized by the Way of the Revolution, along with other groups. The Way of the Revolution wants to stop what it calls the counter-revolution by resisting military authority and the Muslim Brotherhood. The leader of Way of the Revolution, Zizo Abdo, made clear that they are not against laws surrounding the organization of protests, but they are against the current law because it suppresses the act of demonstrating. The government claims the law was enacted in November 2013 to bring order to the streets. The law requires a permit from the Ministry of Interior for demonstrations consisting of more than ten people.
