Bilal Alaa is a journalist who has written for a number of Egyptian and other Arab media outlets. He focuses on Egyptian affairs—especially the January 25 Revolution and its effects on Egyptian politics, society, youth, and state institutions—and the Syrian uprising and its implications. Mr. Alaa has published a book, The Era of Monsters, on political discourse in Egypt from 2005 to 2015.
