Leena Badri is a Nonresident Fellow at TIMEP focusing on governance and conflict in Sudan. Her mandate examines how competing governance structures shape the daily lives of Sudanese civilians. Lina’s mandate aims to bring a human-centric lens into policy conversations on governance in Sudan and to build on this analysis to create momentum toward a ceasefire, a lasting end to the war, and a future that delivers on the needs of Sudanese civilians. As an advocacy professional, Leena works on conflict, governance, and political economy, with a focus on Sudan. She is an Associate Academy Fellow at Chatham House's International Security Programme, where she has researched topics related to global conflict prevention, and is a member of the Mo Ibrahim Foundation’s Now Generation Network. Leena has contributed to research with the Sudanese Centre for Policy Studies, a think tank that emerged after the 2019 revolution with a mission of fostering citizen-based public policy, and she has focused on Sudan’s foreign policy, regional alignments, and internal dynamics. She has also been a member of the Sudan Solidarity Collective, a volunteer-led organization of Sudanese academics, community activists, and professionals that supports grassroots civil society formations at the frontlines of relief efforts in Sudan. She holds a BSc in International Relations and Peace, Conflict, and Justice Studies from the University of Toronto and an MSc in International Social and Public Policy from the London School of Economics.
